Review: The Big Book of Paleo Cooking & Interview With Angela Blanchard

Today I sat down with friend and Primal Health Coach colleague Angela Blanchard to discuss her third cookbook: The Big Book of Paleo Cooking. One of the things I love about being a Primal Health Coach is that I have friends all over the world. It’s such a cool community of people who have all found better health through paleo principles. Learning how much of an impact the primal lifestyle has had on us individually is what prompted all of us to become coaches. Food & lifestyle matter far more than we are told by the media or healthcare system.

In Angela’s Book you’ll find 175 recipes and 6 weeks of meal plans. There are 2 weeks of meal plans for 3 different types of paleo. There is a paleo 2 week menu, and autoimmune paleo (AIP) 2 week menu, and an allergen friendly 2 week menu. Even if you’re not AIP or allergen free the recipes are still great for everyone.

She seriously covers everything from familiar favorites like pizza crust, chicken tenders, sloppy joes, and chicken pot pie. There’s a grain free and dairy free lasagna and even a banana cream pie parfait. As you’ll hear in the video interview she really does it all. The basics are there, the tips are there along with a shopping list, and she covers a wide range of ethnic cuisines. For grown up tastes she includes recipes for duck, pheasant, and chimichurri ribeye. Honestly, I wish I had The Big Book of Paleo Cooking as my first paleo cookbook. I’m not just saying that. It is genuinely good.

The book begins with lists to get you organized and it finishes with two indices. What I love about the second index is that it’s arranged by ingredient, recipe type, and there’s even an easy section. Imagine, all of a cookbook’s easy recipes in one easy to find place!

If you’re new to paleo or simply want to expand your cookbook collection I can’t think of a better book.
